How time passes! The Bay of Quinte Community Players are well into their forth year of bringing live, quality plays to the city of Trenton. Located in the beautiful Old Town Hall 1867 in downtown Trenton, the theatre, aptly named “My Theatre”, is an intimate setting seating 74 patrons. Sight lines are excellent and the ladies of the Trent Port Historical Society provide tasty homemade treats at intermission.
Their upcoming production, Pathways, was written, and is being directed, by local award winning playwright Carl Cashin. The play’s basic premise is that each and every decision we make affects the direction our lives take – true or false? Or how about - who we are today is a culmination of every decision we have ever made? Cecil Hagerman, an eighty-one year old recluse farmer, is dying. In a rural clinic on Christmas Eve, his spirit watches as nurse Effie Tilley and Dr. Anne Winters attempt to save his life. Is it worth saving? Have their lives been worth living? The characters take the audience on a whirlwind trip of emotions; laughter, grief, war, and sentimental memories.
Cashin has assembled a stellar cast for this production. Victoria Farrell, Bill Petch and son Joel, Jeff Van de Kleut, Wes Weese and Debra Tosh who won the best actress award at the Eastern Ontario Drama Festival in 1999 for her portrayal of Nurse Effron Tilley.
